Gephart, Donna. (2016). Lily and Dunkin.New York: Delacorte Press.
Lily
and Dunkin is a wonderful book about two middle schoolers who are
trying their best to navigate the world and their problems. It is about
two teenagers, each with different issues that make them stand out from
the crowd. They run into each other outside of the public library one
day before school starts, and seem to form a fast friendship. However,
bullies, popularity, and middle school pressures make it hard for them
to stay friends, at least in school. As the story goes on, the two
characters continue to face new hardships and problems. Will they end up
being friends to each other or will they hurt each other like everyone
else seems to do?
In addition to writing books for children, Donna has written for
newspapers and magazines including: Family Circle Magazine, The Los
Angeles Times Newspaper, Parenting, Highlights for Children,
Scholastic's Storyworks Magazine and many others.
